Technically the finest piece from this collection. Colors are subdued with monochromatic color scheme of shades of blue accented in gold thread. The outstanding qualities about this piece are first of all the technical wonder of it. All of the floral motifs in the center panel are entirely filled in with the forbidden stitch with every single leaf and pedal outlined in a finely couched gold-wrapped thread. The forbidden stitch is so fine that each is about the size of a poppy seed! What else makes this an amazing piece is that the fabric used to frame the fragment is of a similar time period, and is also entirely hand embroidered and couched, probably also salvaged from an old robe. The brocade ribbon framing the inner area is of a letter date, most likely from the time when this piece was finished off for export in the early 20th. C. Dimensions are: 12 1/8" x 25 1/4".
